Summer heat always seems to come early in MD. We complain all winter and then BAM it's an in-the-pool or in-the-side kind of day. Here are 3 more toddler activities for days that you are stuck inside. Check out my previous blog post Sum Sum Summer Time for more ideas like mess free painting and our favorite water table!
I'm a declutterer (is that a word?) so reusing items doesn't always happen BUT I'm so glad I kept some Puffs Containers! Here is one game that keeps her entertained. You need one package of large puffs. I found them at Dollar General. Cut a round hole in the top of the Puffs Container and there you go. She will do this independently or we have made it a taking turns game to learn the idea of sharing and turn taking. "Mommy's turn. Now your turn."
Toddler torture, early 1:1 correspondence learning, definitely fine motor development - your choice. But really this slowed snack down one morning and she thought it was funny. One Kix (I know its the darn Kix again- for more read my post Kix The Habit) in each muffin hole. Of course she did eventually pick it up and dump them out. But, ah isn't that #toddlerlife.
Tupperware Party - My mother-in-law would kills me because she actually sells Tupperware and there is only one official Tupperware container in these pics. (email me if you want to order). We keep a box of containers on our toy shelf (see my previous post Toddler Toy Reorg) for daily play. She loves the lids. We also have a drawer in the kitchen and a few containers in her kitchen basket of play items. Can't go wrong with this one. Throw in some wooden utensils and you can at least get the dishwasher emptied and loaded.
